Asterisk@home

The Asterisk@home project is brilliant - I have got a full PBX system working at home now with about 2 hours work. It features conferencing/call waiting/wake up calls/Flash Operator panel/use of gizmo project/ring groups and so much more. I found the info available here was brilliant with regards to setting up the incoming and outgoing stuff for gizmo and which ports etc are required to be opened :) One thing it doesn't mention is that you need to set internal routes for default ring groups etc.

  • Setup the SIP trunk as described
  • Add an internal route for all did and cid which rings the extension/ring group you require.
  • Copy the default 9|* outbound into one called 8_outbound or similar and then select the trunk to use.
  • relax and rest on your laurels :)

Next step is to move it close to the router so I don't have a cable dangling round the house and then either get a cheap ip phone or a convertor box.
