QDVDauthor and creating your own dvdsPosted 1 year, 11 months ago on March 15, 2007 by yerma Fun Stuff, Just Stuff Have had some real problem creating disks using qdvdauthor on kubuntu so sorted out the following set of instructions to keep myself right for the future:
It's not failed yet so hopefully it'll work. Also, apparently this is the right mencoder setup for dvd's - link to the full article in the below post. mencoder -oac lavc -ovc lavc -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd -vf scale=720:576,harddup -srate 48000 -af lavcresample=48000 -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:vrc_buf_size=1835:vrc_maxrate=9800:vbitrate=5000: ARTIFICAL LINE BREAK - DELETE ALL OF THIS keyint=15:aspect=16/9:acodec=ac3:abitrate=192 -ofps 25 -o OUTPUTFILE.mpg INPUTFILE.avi ---Comment Cyanide and HappinessPosted 2 years, 8 months ago on July 11, 2006 by yerma Fun Stuff
---Comment Lost and the Third PolicemanPosted 3 years, 1 month ago on March 1, 2006 by yerma Fun Stuff This url talks about The Third Policeman and describes the parallels between the book and the events in Lost. It's an great linkup and would go a long way to explain the events on the island. ---Comment Going BedouinPosted 3 years, 1 month ago on February 26, 2006 by yerma Fun Stuff Internet cafés have long become the norm for accessing your mail or browsing the web when you have a few minutes but how about using them as a place of work or incubator centre? That's an idea that I first heard of floated by MJ and is now appearing to be picking up steam. It's such a seemingly simple idea but one that would make great sense, very little spend would be required on the part of the café except for the bandwidth and power, there could be a couple of booths for private phone calls and people purchasing a certain amount of coffee per hour on an honour system. The users would get free wifi connection, a place to work and best of all a place to meet people in the same business and a chance to grow their companies. ---Comment Transformers the moviePosted 3 years, 1 month ago on February 25, 2006 by yerma Fun Stuff Just heard on Jo Whiley ---Comment Blond JokePosted 3 years, 2 months ago on January 14, 2006 by yerma Fun Stuff I normally try not to put links to funny sites up here - but this is a great ---Comment The brilliance of OSXPosted 3 years, 4 months ago on December 12, 2005 by yerma Fun Stuff There are too many entries out there stating how much people love their macs and this isn't going to become one of them. This is just a simple posting to show how easy things are with a mac. I wanted to close my terminal windows when typing exit instead of a message stating [Process Completed] appearing so I asked on the local user group site and was told to go to "Terminal" in top left corner and then window settings and then change the settings in there. All well and good - or so I thought....... Whatever I had done - my terminal was now screwed!!! After about 20 minutes of panicking I remembered that most things on the mac make sense and decided to take a look around the file system, I started in the main library but there was no section for preferences for terminal so I went into the ~/Library/Preferences folder in my homedir - there was a file called com.apple.Terminal.plist which I renamed to com.apple.Terminal.plist.old and restarted terminal - all defaults returned as if it was the first install. ---2 comments
