The saga begins......Posted 2 years, 3 months ago on December 9, 2006 by yerma trips After a hectic couple of weeks with trips to Dubai, Houston and Kuwait under my belt I am now on my holidays!!! Started this morning with the drive (again) from Belfast to Dublin airport and then the 2 hr check in etc etc etc etc Have now been waiting in Heathrow airport since 1.30pm and the flight isn't till 10.00 but at least it's holiday time!!!! The wife is away shopping, I am drinking a beer and everything is looking good with the world. Looking forward to treehouses, a reef like no other and visting a place set up by a top bloke ---Comment Call to prayerPosted 2 years, 3 months ago on November 26, 2006 by yerma trips, Work (written later) we've moved from kuwait to Dubai now and after a few beers last night we had a whole rake of meetings but have now finished the day by heading to the pool for a swim. Have been watching the sun go down with the burj-al-arab in the distance and the truly incredible sound of the faithful being called to prayer. Being locked up in the hilton in kuwait we didn't get a chance to see any of the city so is great to get a chance to see some of dubai. From the rooftop of the hotel i can see about 8 or 9 mosques which all started one after another with their calls which reverberated around the whole city. ---Comment Away againPosted 2 years, 3 months ago on November 20, 2006 by yerma trips, Work Been a long time since I posted anything and am currently sitting in a hotel room with not much else to do so thought I would log back in. ---Comment Alaska and awacsPosted 2 years, 8 months ago on June 28, 2006 by yerma trips Saw an AWACS out of the window of the hotel today. Was amazing to see something like that so close and was even treated to a view of it landing and taxiing. ---Comment Alaska - day ????Posted 2 years, 9 months ago on June 27, 2006 by yerma trips Feeling a bit better now I'm starting to get used to the time difference although was up at 3am yesterday and 5am today. Went to a bar for dinner and a couple of drinks yesterday and then headed back to the hotel due to being cream crackered..... ---Comment Alaska - Day 1Posted 2 years, 9 months ago on June 25, 2006 by yerma trips Have now been travelling for roughly 27 hours and just got to my hotel room in Anchorage. Stopovers in Newark and Portland both seem like lifetimes away especially due to the time difference and me trying to set my bodyclock as we go. The flight into Portland was just stunning - it looks like google earth with your terrain maps turned on, the view of thr mountains just appearing out of the ground and the beautiful treelined landscape were absolutely awe-inspiring. I kinda wish I'd brought my proper camera instead of the one on my mobile phone which I couldn't switch on anyway. Alaska is still light at 2.15am - not full brightness but about dusk which is incredible to see. ---Comment
